Charlotte Nemec, President and CEO
 

Charlotte began serving as President/CEO in 2018. Since starting at the credit union in 1995, her roles have included managing HR and serving as the VP of Administration.  Charlotte cares deeply about giving back to the Spokane community and serves with the Women and Children’s Free Restaurant Greater Spokane Incorporated Finance Committee, Whitworth University Institute of Leadership, United Way of Spokane County, and the GoWest Foundation. Charlotte is also passionate about cooking, hiking, and spending time with her cat and dog.

Jana Farace, VP of Risk Management
 

Since 1986, Jana has been serving credit union members. Through her work at Canopy Credit Union, Jana gives her time and talent to organizations such as The Women and Children’s Free Restaurant and the Boys and Girls Club of Spokane.

Cindy Thompson, VP of Finance
 

Cindy came to Canopy with robust experience and understanding of the credit union industry. She served as treasurer at Horizon Credit Union for two years, following sixteen years at Numerica Credit Union with roles that included controller, chief financial officer, and chief strategy officer. When Cindy's not applying her extensive financial knowledge and strategy capabilities to her work and local community, she's spending time with her her large and bustling family.

Guy Ottersen, VP Lending & Member Experience
 

Guy has been serving Canopy since 2019 in his position as the VP of Lending and Member experience. When he isn’t supporting his team and helping members, he is an active participant in multiple non-profit organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank of the Inland NW.

Mark Nelson, Chairman
 

A Canopy member since 1996, Mark has been serving as a board member since 2011. When he isn’t serving as the senior director of technical operations at Comcast, Mark helps out with Second Harvest Food Bank, Clean the Trail, and United Way.

Sherri Lynch, Ph.D., Vice-Chair
 

A Canopy member since 1975 and a board member since 2018, Sherri is an outdoor enthusiast, HOA board member, and self-proclaimed “kid-chaser”. Currently, she is the Director of Community, Corporate, and External Relations for the School of Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University and is the co-founder of the Women Lead program there.

Barb Richey, Secretary
 

A Spokane native, Barb has been a lifelong member of Canopy. She joined the Board of Directors as an associate member in 2019, assuming the position of a director in 2020. She currently serves as the Vice President of University Advancement and Executive Director of the EWU Foundation. In addition to her work with Canopy, Barb serves with the City of Spokane’s Park Board and the Spokane Sports Commission Board of Directors. In her free time, you can find Barb climbing mountains, cycling, traveling, golfing, and cheering on the Eastern Eagles.

Trevor M.K. Airey, Director
 

Trevor began serving on the Board of Directors in 2021, the same year he became a member at Canopy. While he was born and raised in Spokane, Trevor currently resides in Renton, WA. He serves as an Ambassador for Gonzaga's School of Leadership, participates in guest speaking engagements, and hosts holiday book promotions as a children’s author.

Kiantha Duncan, Director
 

Kiantha Duncan is well-known in the Spokane community for her leadership. Alongside her service to Canopy's Board of Directors starting in 2021, she is an Advise Columnist for the Spokesman-Review, is the past President of the Spokane Chapter of the NAACP and serves on various other boards in Washington state.

Arthur K. Hayashi, Director
 

Serving as a board member since 1994, Arthur enjoys playing pickleball, speed walking, and playing guitar in a local “oldies” band. In 2017, he retired after 30 years as the Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Spokane County. Over the years, Arthur has served as the Chairman of the Rockwood Retirement Communities Board, the President of the Spokane County Bar Association, Chairman of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and Chairman of the Legal Assistants Advisory Committee for the Community Colleges of Spokane.

Gloria M. Skibbie, Director
 

Gloria retired from her career in the Department of Corrections/Community Correction and the Federal Probation in 2013. Since 2012, she has served as a Canopy member in the positions of secretary, vice-chair and chair. She also serves on the HomeOwners Association board as well as supports the Women’s Auxiliary and the Union Gospel Mission.

Kris Forgey-Haynie, Associate Board Member
 

Kris serves as the Voter/Elections Services Supervisor for Spokane County. She joined Canopy in 2002 and started serving on the board in 2021. Kris enjoys volunteering with the Washington Basset Rescue and the Spokane County Library in her free time.

Rob Dietz, Supervisory Committee Member
 

Soon after retiring from his role as a commercial lender and banker at Banner Bank, Rob joined as a supervisory committee member in 2022. He also serves as an EWU Foundation Board Member.

Marian Frobe, Supervisory Committee Member
 

Marian first began her service to Canopy’s Board of Directors in 1995. In the years after retiring from her position in Social Security in 1993, she has volunteered with the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge and the Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife.

Allen Gilbert, Supervisory Committee Member
 

Allen worked for 30 years for the Social Security Administration, retiring in 2008 as Assistant District Manager of the Spokane SSA office. Since 2008, he has been serving Canopy Credit Union and has been a member since 1983. In retirement, he has served as a representative for disabled individuals filing for Social Security benefits and SSI, volunteered for the local public television station, and given back at his grandson’s elementary school.
