Have you ever been BOOed?
Not BOO’d like at a sporting event, but BOOed in a good way!
We moved into our current neighborhood 12 years ago. We love it here. Lots of great neighbors, kids running around and just all-around amazing little community. One October shortly after we moved in we got BOOed for the first time. Our doorbell rang one night and when we opened the door no one was there. BUT there was a plastic Halloween bowl on the doorstep filled with fun and yummy treats. Included was a letter saying we’d been BOOed and if we’d like, we could make copies of the BOO pages and BOO other people. We didn’t know who left it there, but that’s part of the fun!
The boys were tiny. But boy were they excited when we bought some plastic pumpkin buckets and put fun treats inside and sneakily BOOed other families in our neighborhood. Google “booing neighbors” or look it up on Pinterest, there are a lot of fun ideas and printables available. We have done it many times since. Sometimes we do it to neighbors but we’ve also driven to friends’ houses that are a little further away. You could even do this on co-workers' desks. You can do it anonymously or say who it’s from. You can do it with the printables people can copy and pass on or not. It’s fun any way you do it!
Fun things to put in the goody basket are:
- small toys
- some candy
- pumpkin carving tools
- glow in the dark necklaces to wear trick-or-treating
- Halloween décor
- maybe adult beverages for the parents ;)
- Really anything you can think of!
It is so exciting to see the joy the kids get out of it too. A great lesson on how fun it is to give to others and spread joy! Now, who are you going to BOO?
