The Importance of Reflection

November 24, 2015 • Adulting

As I approach the end of my college career, there’s been countless “lasts” for me. These “lasts” are a constant reminder that a new stage in my life is approaching and the unavoidable change that’s about to happen within the next year. Now, I’ve never been very good at change. Yes, life is about rolling with the punches, but sometimes my roll turns into a bit of a stumble with a few bumps along the way. However I always adjust eventually. Instead of looking at graduation as a huge accomplishment, I’ve turned it into a source of fear—which is exactly the opposite of what it should be. I’ve had to cope with the fear of the unknown after graduation and let me tell you, that process will be a constant one until the time actually comes and probably even after a little too.

But one thought that has given me comfort is the things that won’t change in my life. The everlasting things college has given me. It has given me opportunity—opportunity to achieve a good career. It has given me invaluable friendships that I can always count on. It has given me independence—which is something I think everyone needs in order to be happy with their own lives and succeed. But most of all it has given me memories that I will cherish for a lifetime. Just because these are things college has given me, doesn’t mean they are entirely finished. I think college is just one of the huge developmental things in my life that has both challenged me more than I’ve ever been challenged, and rewarded me more than I’ve ever been rewarded. College is an experience that I will always look back on with the fondest of memories. I’ll end this post with the best thing I could end on…Go Cougs!
